Fashion Tips for Senior Portraits
The clothes that you wear express your personality; whether it is jeans and a t-shirt, a dress, or even a pair of parachute pants; wear something that will show who you are. Go casual or dressy; just wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident.
The Do’s and Don’ts
Try to avoid wearing distracting patterns or any graphics t-shirts. We recommend you wear solid colors to not distract the eye from the main subject of the photo, which is you! Don’t make any drastic changes to your hair or facial hair; you want to be able to recognize yourself in your portraits for years to come. If you need a hair cut before your senior portraits, try and schedule an appointment week or two before.
Ladies, if you are going to wear some jewelry keep it simple. You don’t want big, shiny jewelry to steal the attention from your portraits. Wear something that will compliment your outfit and still show off your personality; however, wear your heels! Show off your pumps, combat boots, or maybe something sassy and let your shoes be that wow factor in your outfit. Be sure to bring along a tank top and a pair of shorts or jeans to wear underneath your black drape.
Guys, if you are going to wear an undershirt try a black or gray one. White undershirts have a tendency of sticking out and are photographed poorly. If you are not very good at fashion or cannot decide to wear, feel free to ask your girlfriend or even your mom to help you out. Bring along a shirt, tie, and jacket for your formal shots. If you don’t have any of those items, the studio will provide them for you.
Props
We welcome all props to your senior session! Whether it is your varsity jacket, guitar, sports gear, pets, or even your car; this will make your photos more personal.
Coordinating Clothing with Backgrounds
We have a variety of backgrounds, so we recommend bringing in a few articles of clothing. We will help coordinate your colors and style with our backgrounds to get that perfect look.
We have a large backyard that provides us with beautiful environmental portraits. Have a seat on our tree swing or hang out in the gazebo! Watch the weather a few days before your session, we can reschedule you if necessary.
